House Masters and Staff

House Masters
The House Masters' Office sits at the very center of Winthrop House life. Professor Ronald S. Sullivan Jr. and Stephanie Robinson provide leadership on many fronts, often setting the tone for house spirit. Ron is clinical professor of law at Harvard Law School, director of the Harvard Criminal Justice Institute, and Edward R. Johnston Lecturer on Law; Stephanie is a lecturer on law at HLS, is president and CEO of the Jamestown Project, and is a political commentator for the Tom Joyner Morning Show. The Masters are assisted by a diverse and talented staff of both resident and non-resident advisors and by their family, including their sons Trey, age nine, and Chase, age one and a half, and their dog Nietzsche. To learn more about the House Masters, see this Harvard Gazette story, drop by the Masters' office hours in the JCR, or find them in the dining hall!

House Administrator
Joanna Miller
Joanna Miller strives to be your friendly resource for all things housing and roommate-related. She will also do her darndest to answer any other question you have, or to find a person who can answer it for you. In addition, to she is in her third year of being both a freshman and sophomore academic adviser. Previously she worked for the College doing crisis management planning (which includes shelter coordination and a tutor/proctor emergency procedure handbook). She hails originally from Vermont, attended college in Rhode Island, received her Masters at Harvard's very own Graduate School of Education, and is married to a native Cape Codder, Nate (you may notice a certain New England theme running through her life). In her spare time she enjoys running, reading, baking, and hanging out with her two adorable nieces. Joanna's office is on the first floor of D-entry in Standish Hall. Stop by any time for a chat or a piece of candy! Joanna can also be reached by email at wi-ha@fas.harvard.edu.

Building Manager
Mr. Simms
Our beloved Building Manager and Superintendent, Mr. David Simms, is responsible for the physical facilities and safety of the House. Mr. Simms's office is located in G-Entry, and he can be reached by phone at 5-2295 or by email at dsimms@fas.harvard.edu. At night, the office is staffed by a security guard, usually Enoch (who is everyone's favorite table tennis player).
